Hello! My name is Varda – welcome to my teaching e-Portfolio!
I’m a recent graduate of TRU’s Bachelor of Education Secondary STEM program. I grew up in Kamloops but I was born in Surrey. I absolutely love BC – especially the coast! Which was why I went to Vancouver to study science. I completed a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology. Now, I’m training to become a teacher!
Throughout my academic career, I’ve learned a valuable lesson which I think is important for students to know.
“Accept failure, because only from failure, can we truly appreciate success.”
We’re all afraid of making mistakes, and if students make a mistake in the classroom, they should be able to try again. Students should feel confident within themselves to pursue their interests and learn, but if the anxiety of mistakes gets in the way, they can’t explore very far. My goal is to create a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable to try and try again.
